Faith Formation Opportunities
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Grades K-5
Classes for students in grades K-5 are held on Monday nights from 6:15-7:30 at Our Lady of Good Counsel in the classrooms of the school and in the church. Classes start in October each year.
SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION
First Eucharist & First Reconciliation
Preparation is throughout the year and typically received in the second grade. Any young person anticipating receiving these sacraments should have been enrolled in a Religious Education Program or in a Catholic School for at least one year prior to preparing for the Sacrament. Therefore, a child anticipating receiving these sacraments in Spring 2022 would have had to have been enrolled in 2020-21 and 2021-22 in order to participate in the preparation program. If interested, please contact the office.
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)
Thinking of becoming Catholic? Perhaps your spouse is interested or you know of someone else who is interested? RCIA classes meet weekly to discuss what makes the Catholic faith rich, deep, and distinct. The process of faith formation follows the liturgical year of the Church and is punctuated throughout with rituals that bring you closer to communion with Christ and His people before culminating in reception into the Church during the Easter Vigil. Faith is a journey, a road we all travel. Don't be afraid to take your first steps with us. Contact Pastor Fr. Kevin Ewing at kevin.ewing@archbalt.org.
Baptismal Preparation
Scheduled as needed
This class is required for parents and godparents (even if at another parish). It is often a good idea to participate in the class before the child is born as you may have more time to do so.

Men’s Group
Thursdays, 7am @ Holy Cross
The Men’s Group at the Catholic Community of South Baltimore has been actively engaged each week for several years now. Our time together runs about 50 minutes and includes coffee and is immediately followed by the 8AM Mass for those who can stay. The Group selects a book to use to guide/focus us on a relevant topic to more deeply enhance our individual relationship with God as well as our relationships with one another. We welcome every man in the parish and all men to join us. We ask that if you have any ideas, issues and/or concerns that would allow the Group to be a source in your life for furthering your relationship with God and others, to please share with us. Your responses will remain anonymous - send them to Richard Kamenitzer at rpk506@gmail.com.
